but don't stop if i fall, and don't look back

1. anyone else find it hilarious that google adsense thinks i am a lesbian? it also appears that i am obsessed with: emo and snake repellent. good to know.
this blog has totally become my procrastination tool. i find i'm blogging more when i have a bunch of reading to do.

2. i'm pretty jealous of e right now. let's just say someone owes us big time. (i love using the royal we/us)

3. just thought i'd link this: floating along in belize. pretty self-explanatory (if you read the heading/descrip) but if you're too lazy to look, it's a blog by a peacecorps volunteer.

4. i'm skipping the first bar review tonight. for those who are unfamiliar with the term.. it literally means to go to a bar. and review it. as in, you know. imbibe.

5. can't wait for the weekend. THREE DAY WEEKEND.

"black mamba is a deadly, venomous, sexy snake"

guess you learn something new everyday. i'll bet you thought i'd stop talking about snakes on a plane already. right? right?

nope.

i rly should go study. sorry. photos will have to wait. except.. one.

[felix rodriguez - the sounds - wiltern - august 19, 2006]

i promise i'll work on some next weekend. PROMISE.
ps. four reasons why october will be amazing. 1) bamboozle left (i maintain that pomona does NOT count as an "la" date for jm); 2) my chemical romance - the black parade; 3) cobra starship - while the city sleeps.. we rule the streets; 4) the killers - sam's town. holla.

someone needs to get this on youtube asap. is it crapping out for everyone too, in the last 2 minutes?

the world can be ugly, but isn't it beautiful?

so last year was a big deal because this happened.
i'm not one to celebrate anniversaries nor am i one who likes to look back in time and remember the periods of my life that were not particularly the best.

With each new day it becomes more apparent to me that everything and everyone in this world is connected in some beautiful and inexplicable way, and the more I accept that, the more my world seems to come together... I feel cradled by this universe and the immense love that comes from it.

today, my mother took one of our doggies to the vet today to have her put to sleep. she was an old grandma, starting to lose her mind a bit, and slowly growing more deaf and blind each passing day. she was sick the past 3 days, unable to keep food down and howling throughout the night. though i think she must be happy where she is now, and it's been a hell of a week really, trying to grapple with this and my first week of school.

when one life ends, another begins. like jenny said once, "i appreciate you getting better." thanks, andrew. ps. everyone, the dark blue video will be amazing. there's the plug.

i don't know why i can be personal on here (don't worry, it won't happen often, and you'll get your daily dose of emao soon enough) but i guess sometimes it's easier to tell people/readers who you don't know rather than those who you know personally. though i know some of my friends do read this ;)

on a side note, i am literally taking caffeine to the bloodstream. fortunately, have avoided the redbull (thanks e) but i just might give in.. very very soon. pardon the weirdness of this blog, i have a bunch of reading to get done but i had to get that off my chest.

just look at how much we've changed

as some of you may know, i will be starting law school in less than 8 hrs today. this means that i will probably be photo-ing a lot less, and blogging a lot less. hopefully, AIMing/myspacing a lot less, but i make no guarantees. my priority is going to be school now (i know, it really should be shows > everything else in life. i wish :) ). EMO4LYFE.

new friends who have changed my life in more ways they will ever know (thanks jm), old friends who have stuck by me during my "slacker" period.. thank you. i am the person i am today because of you guys, and i will always be thankful. i’ve had the most amazing year off this past year, and i know that while i’ll never be able to go back to those glory days.. i will hold on to those memories when life is sucking—which i hear happens quite often for 1-Ls.

now, remind me not to become a bitter, horrible, mean lawyer-type and keep me in check sometimes. i will do my best to retain my sense of humor.

i love you all.
xoxo

ps. the sounds show saturday night blew me away. the best show BY FAR. amazing amazing amazing. i kept looking at the crowd singing every word of "night after night" (the slow version btw) and i just grinned like an idiot. maja absolutely loved the crowd so i believe there was more skirt-hiking and underwear-flashing than usual hahah.. i'm so glad i went-- it was the perfect way to spend my last weekend before law school. so happy. will probably try to get these photos posted, along with the rest of the snakes on a plane party, at the end of this week.

we got a free upgrade for snakes on a plane

**I REALIZE THIS IS A LATE POST. the combo of this show + photos + orientation (among other things) has killed me.

[snakes on a plane soundtrack party - key club - august 16, 2006]
on wednesday, at the key club, my little emo heart exploded and will never be put back together again. i told someone before the show that "the entire world" was going to be there, to which he replied, "the key club isn't big enough to hold the whole world." which is true. so i responded "well MY world will be in that room." friend-friends. show/jm friends. "work" friends. everyone else. and then, of course, the who's who of the scene world. scene queens. and thesounds. jacksmannequin. theacademyis williambeckett. gymclassheroes. cobrastarship. falloutboy. ALL IN ONE TINY VENUE. if panic! was there i probably would've passed out. literally.

the lineup was awes (the sounds, gym class acoustic, jack's acoustic, william solo, cobrastarship with all the guestmembers, then fall out boy). i was all ready with my photopass when of course, i have a battery malfunction issue. backup batteries are of no use either. after a pretty major freakout session, it was resolved. i have to thank e and irene for dealing with me and helping me out in every way they could. i have to thank the staff and security at key club for being so nice. and the guy at the liquor store on the corner of doheny and sunset. i almost hugged him as he sold me the batteries, but i just told him that he had just saved my life. without you all.. there would be no photoblog today.

1. maja is amazing. but you knew that already.
2. gym class heroes, i missed part of their set.. but the best was when patrick stump came out to sing cupid's chokehold, the scene kids are freaking out, and irene texts me "who is that guy from?" 3. i tried not to look too excited during jack's, but who am i kidding? someone from buzznet snapped a photo of me while i was geeking out. 4. apparently i looked like a scene kid and not some official photog b/c i must've been asked at least 5 times if i had a media pass.
5. william beckett. messing up the words to attention. interrupted by travis. and gabe. the kids singing along to EVERY WORD. i didn't care how stupid i looked. the entire room singing an entire first part of the song up till the chorus, and william just standing back in awe. THAT IS LOVE. then he was like "alright i'm going to sing it now." **lighting sucked hxc during his set :(6. cobrastarship. the snakes song killed me. i died. and then my camera decided that it was in love with william beckett. 7. fall out boy. that was ridiculous. i could feel the venue floor shaking and the kids going absolutely nuts. NUTS. some dudes who were geeking out to fall out boy later tried to hit on me. haha sorry guys. and i'm sure everyone would love to argue that they suck and that they sold out and pete wentz is.. blah blah. but you know what, they put on an amazing show. they love their fans. they love playing for them. i sang along to every word i knew. (bad picture, but how happy does he look? he has the best smile.)

for a minute there, i lost myself

if you want to know what to do in la this week, irene has a comprehensive list here. i'll be in attendance of all sounds + snakes-related events. unfortch, skipping out on the sounds djing cinespace tonight due to the lovely homework that was assigned at orientation today.

i finished some of my photos from street scene (from two weekends ago) but have yet to post them; still have to finish the monty are i ones.. and i will have photos from tomorrow's cobra starship (along with "special guests") show! i promise i'll get these done before school starts next monday. i'm pretty sure i'm going to miss having a life once school starts.

pretty much the most boring post ever.
my back hurts. time to dance sleep.

i think there's something more life's worth living for

basically, i'm excerpting a bunch from a recent entry from amanda palmer's [the dresden dolls] blog. because she writes things in such amazing ways that i couldn't even describe the effect they've had on me over the past few days. i've only seen them twice live and i pretty much think i love them.

two years ago, when we were touring europe and i was at my wits end, thinking that the band was going to break up, thinking that it was all over and that brian and I had had enough of each other for good, i found a bright spot in listening to avril lavigne's new record and deciding to make a fake video out of the song "together". you've seen the results (if you haven't: www.dresdendolls.com/music/karaoke/index.htm). it was truly cathartic. i don't think anyone really believes me when i say that. having a project like that to throw myself into saved me. the song, with all it's adolescent cheese and overproduction, gave me a wormhole back to 15-year-old self, the lonely confused one eating her lunch in the piano practice room.[italics added]

i'm emotionally purging as we speak. (you can check my last.fm if you want)

a week before the tour ended, we got the call in seattle that ryan's [of panic! at the disco] dad had suddenly died. his only close family. he was an only child and his mom was out of the picture. our hearts sank, we sat in the bus and all looked at each other at a loss for words.

they canceled two shows. we almost didn't want to get the call that the shows were on, because we assumed that that would mean that ryan had been talked into coming back on tour when he should be at home, dealing. dealing with who, with what? ryan came back on tour after three days off, we finished up in california. the whole crew felt strange, their whole gang seemed out of sorts. no wonder. i took a long walk with ryan around the parking lot in anaheim. i felt like the whole world had been thrown at him, in all it's shitty ugliness, and what could i say? better to say nothing. we walked, saying nothing and occasionally something. we started at the hooters billboard, hoisted 5 stories in the air to reach the passing traffic from the highway. we waled to the bud light billboard, hoisted 5 stories in the air to reach the passing traffic from the highway. do you have anyone real to talk to? i will. i'll talk to you. when you're ready. don't lose me. i'm an ally. really. i hugged him and i went back to the bus, getting into my bunk with a heaviness i couldn't describe. [italics added]

i read that entire part over and over again (after i first saw it in the panic lj community). took me two days to blog about it, but here it is.

my love is a fast song

school starts in less than 13 days which kind of sucks. i should probably quit whining about it though, since i chose to go back. however.. it'll be okay b/c orientation week coincides with COBRA STARSHIP/SoaP WEEK (and rhonda's bday on the 15th). aka i see them a bunch and my final send off is the sounds show @ the wiltern. hollaaa

rob and i went insane about a week ago.
rob (10:29:54 PM): well the external hard drive isn't more likely to die than the one in your computer
rob (10:30:06 PM): as long as you don't play frisbee with the external case
rob (10:30:08 PM): do you?
me (10:30:11 PM): oh crap.. i just played ultimate today
me (10:30:19 PM): asdl;fhlksdhsdlkhf
rob (10:30:20 PM): argh dammit
me (10:30:23 PM): i know. it didn't say NOT TO on the instructions!
rob (10:30:32 PM): its not even circular!
me (10:30:38 PM): OMG NO WAY
me (10:30:40 PM): sh*t. this is news to me
rob (10:30:51 PM): its ok, it happens to the best of us
me (10:30:54 PM): FRISBEES HAVE TO BE CIRCULAR?!!!!
me (10:30:57 PM): goodness. i have been living a lie.. all of these years!
rob (10:31:12 PM): i thought a trace amount of uranium behind a 30 pound lead brick wasn't too radioactive
* please keep in mind that we both graduated from USC. with like, degrees (electrical engineering and business).

i don't know about you, but that snakes on a plane soundtrack is (creepily) infecting every part of my life right now. everything comes full circle, i guess.

i wouldn't front the scene if you paid me

so i didn't even get to fully emo out b/c... my chemical romance cancelled this weekend's street scene perf! boo. well i hope nothing terrible happened to them. but still. boo. no gerard, no mikey, no frankie, no ray, no bob. boo boo boo.

update: apparently bob and gerard were injured pretty badly filming their new vid. hope they get better soon!
these girls had cute shirts/jax. i got some nice pictures of matchbook romance, queens of the stone age, the editors, the shins, and bloc party so that was cool. bloc party is adorable and fun.

all the crazies i was with rode this thing while i photonerded it with my shutter speed thing:

and there was a ferris wheel. um this made my day when i got home today:

ahklsdhgkh somorescene why are you so cool. hahah
"That’s birthday boy Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes giving William Beckett of The Academy Is… a kiss on the cheek during the Purevolume.com Warped Tour afterparty at MisShapes. Adorable!"

this is how we live, this is what we breathe

i posted the outline photos here. i still rly don't like flash, but what can you do.
recap of the dance party: CRAZY. the kids were all sweating. the band was sweating. the light fixtures and room was sweating. i'm pretty sure i lost about 5 lbs of water weight on saturday. it was SO much fun and the crowd had crazy energy. this is basically why i love all-ages shows.. the kids seriously heart the music. ima robot was ridic kinetic. i didn't want to be molested by lead singer but he pulled a girl onstage from the front and danced with her during one of the songs which was cute. anddd yea. lots of scene photog kids. loved it.

the next day:
monty are i was amazing. a) the photo pass wristband also happened to be the same as the all-access wristband (though i didn't abuse that privilege.. not really) + b) we were allowed to stay up there for more than 3 songs, so i just shot a bunch and watched the show from in front of the barricade. so nice. here's a prev.

[monty are i - henry fonda theatre - july 30, 2006]

we loves you.
